Keeping Corner Book Review

Happy New Year everyone! Sorry for the delay in adding to the blog. There was some red tape that I needed to work through with the district to be able to keep the blog active.

Now that I am back and ready to give you all sorts of library related information, I will start with a good book I recently read titled Keeping Corner by Indian author Kashmira Sheth.

I purchased this book for the LRC because the author is coming to the Warren Newport Library in April. I love books that teach me things about cultures of far away lands, either in the past or current day. This book did just that! Set in Gujarat, India in 1918, the story gives readers an in depth look at the marriage laws of the time and what a woman had in store for her if she had the unfortunate luck of becoming a widow. It also touches on the political view of the time, women’s rights and the influence Gandhiji had over the Indian people.

I truly enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading another book by the same author!
